Hunua Ranges

A postcard from the Suspension Bridge Loop Track, 164A Moumoukai Road, Hunua Ranges

Another throwback adventure from September, when my weekends were still my own. The Hunua Ranges are located just about half an hour south west from where we live and the drive over feels like an adventure in itself, full of exciting names and twisting climbing roads. This was one of Asterix’s favourite walks – he seems to feature in 90% of my photos! The first kilometre or so is quite a steep uphill climb but he charged full speed ahead of us, only to (predictably) tire himself out and then try to take a “shortcut” down a cliff edge to the reservoir while our backs were turned. So typical! There are a number of different walks in this area – I did one of the longer ones myself while K was overseas and I’m keen to do it again with him, so we’ll probably be back there again soon.
