Standing on the Edge of the World

Emerging from a forest crippled under the weight of the wind.
Standing on the very edge of the world.
Rainclouds sweeping in!
Yellow gorse and turquoise waters.
A rose-gold sunset.
Descending back into shelter, away from the wind.

A postcard from Mercer Bay Loop Track, Log Race Road, Piha.

Sometimes you just have those perfect evenings. A break in the weather. A last-minute push to get outside. An hour of driving and blasting music. The most New Zealand scenery ever. And you guys, standing on the edge of the cliff, on the very edge of the land where it drops into the sea? Just wind and crashing waves and the approach of rain in the air and the smell of ferns and damp underfoot. Blue, green and grey. There’s nothing more soothing for the soul than this.
