A postcard from Mahurangi Regional Park, Cudlip Point Loop Track.
First day off work since our lockdown dropped to Level 2.
Eight weeks since we were last allowed to drive anywhere for leisure.
My whole body and soul have been longing for this moment so badly, when I woke up this morning it felt like Christmas Day. Fresh salty lungfuls of air, bare legs warmed by the Winter sun. Grassy meadows, newly shorn sheep, fantails flitting and flirting around us, just barely out of reach, dappled sunlight falling gently onto leafy bush paths, soft sand between our toes, the sound of waves crashing, endless shades of blue. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect beautiful walk. Slowly beginning to feel alive again.
Sending love to you all. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, wherever you are!

Really taken with the idea of “recovery”, as per @andypuddicombe and #nikerunclub (- guided runs with headspace), as the concept of “regaining what is lost or taken from you”. #arrestedthought
